I have both scents and I felt like the two could easily be interchanged. Replica Coffee Break seems to veer into the realms of the brand’s newer scent called Whispers in the Library. Disappointing to a point I want to return it. Sadly, Replica Coffee Break is disappointing.
They typically capture the vibe and inspiration of a place or a memory very easily! I have almost all of their scents and about 90% of them have all been a really good experience for me. Coffee? What? This smells nothing like coffee. After trying it I realized everyone that reviewed it and said it smelled like coffee must have been drunk AF when they wrote those reviews. After reading reviews on Replica Coffee Break Fragrance and all the raves about it smelling like creamy coffee I decided to buy it. I already have a lot of different coffee fragrances but I don’t mind adding more to my arsenal. The roasted beans, the creamy milk, the sugar, the warmth, and coziness of the scent just makes me think of a brisk Fall day!
Ironically, I don’t drink coffee, I don’t even like it all that much but I love the smell of it! I find the smell of it heavenly. Yes, I like to run around smelling like I spilled a Macchiato down my shirt. I purchased this immediately upon seeing it pop up because I love, LOVE coffee scents. Maison Margiela Coffee Break from the Replica line is currently available at Sephora and Nordstrom.As you may know Coffee Break is a new, Nordstrom exclusive perfume that launched in the Maison Margiela Replica Fragrance Collection which is now available at Sephora. Sometimes as our skin chemistry changes then fragrances can smell differently. I’ll probably try this out again in a different season and see if it smells differently on me then. Apparently some people do smell coffee and pastries in this. I’ve also read similar reviews after I tried this that had the same opinion,so I know I’m not alone in my experience of this fragrance. I was so excited for this, and then disappointed once I smelled it because I didn’t experience the coffee scent. I definitely recommend testing this one in person before buying. If you are just wanting to capture the scent of your coffee pot brewing in the morning, or have the nice scent of coffee or pastries around you in a soft cloud, this isn’t that, in my opinion.
If you are looking for a fresh, masculine leaning scent that stays around then this might be your thing. The scent seemed to stay in the room where it was sprayed for a couple days even though I only used one small spray. My husband didn’t really like it either because it was so strong and he doesn’t wear fragrance very often anyway. It smelled fresh, and I think the lavender could have been making it come off as masculine, but it was not a smell that smelled good on me at all. I really only smelled a strong men’s aftershave scent. It doesn’t smell anything like coffee or a room where coffee is brewing at all, on me. I somewhat expected a Gourmand creamy smell of coffee with hints of lavender, but what I actually smelled was nothing like my expectation or the description. The notes are just that: Lavender, Coffee, and Milk. The scent is officially described as immersing you in the ambience of a cafe with the scent of roasted Arabica beans, lavender garnished desserts, and frothy creamy milk. I was immediately drawn to it since coffee is one of my favorite smells of life. I love coffee and one day while browsing Nordstrom Fragrances online I saw this Fragrance by Maison Margiela Replica in Coffee Break, and thought I’d try it out since it was new.
